Nianxin Li (b.1999)

NianXin Li obtained her Bachelor's degree from the Florence Academy of Fine Arts in 2020 and completed her Master's Degree at the New York School of Visual Arts in 2023. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in profound contemplation and exploration of intimate relationships and material existence.

Li subverts traditional still-life concepts in her paintings by incorporating numerous non-typical elements, resulting in works filled with rich imagination and a sense of absurdity.

Simultaneously, her works exhibit strong tension, with objects assuming distorted postures that convey repulsion and interdependence, showcasing a delicate balance.

Li hints at division and constraint in contemporary society by depicting these virtual creatures and objects. Multiple visual focal points coexist in her works, with bright and toxic colors overlapping to create a dazzling array of lights, imbued with surrealistic characteristics.

Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at Harper’s, New York (2025); Latitude Gallery, New York (2024); Tang Contemporary, Hong Kong (2024); Rachel Uffner Gallery, New York (2024); Berry Campbell, New York (2024); La Beast Gallery, Los Angeles (2024); and KennaXu Gallery, Shenzhen (2023); and K11 Museum, Shanghai (2023); Chambers Gallery, New York (2023); 550 Gallery, New York (2023); Li lives and works in New York City.
